By the Shores of GitcheeGumee
•September 23, 2011 • 1 CommentA yearly pilgrimage to my place of origin never fails to move me on a cellular level! Whenever I have the good fortune to return to the land of my ancestors each summer, in a small fishing village. AuTrain, Michigan is on the shores of Gitchee Gumee, the name the Ojibwe called Lake Superior. It is the largest, deepest sweet water in-land sea in this country. It’s miles of white sand magic, few humans and sunsets transport me to another time. I am always astounded and never disappointed by the magic that unfolds. This year we arrived to the UP, Upper Pennisula, with thunder heads gathering. No sooner had we gotten our cars unpacked, the heavens opened, dumping hail stones complete with gale wind and torrents of rain! Welcome back to AuTrain! Not without a bang of excitment and anticipation of a week with my five sibs and their families! What a gift and blessing it was! We gathered this year for my mother’s 90th birthday! I am inspired by her health, strength and tenacity. She had to have inherited those genes from her mother, my Grandma Winifred who lived to be 95 and was spry right up to the time of her passing! My mom Alice is going for 100! My guess, she will do it! She is so healthy and as she said in her speech at her birthday celebration, “I love myself!” Pehaps that’s why she has certainly become more loving! A great confirmation for all of us psychological souls who know that self love is a pre-requisite to truly loving anyone else! You go ALICE!!! You gotta love her and thank her for all the ways she has shown me what to and not to become!I have always said that she is my greatest teacher.
I love Amado’s drawing of Mom or as my brother calls her BIG AL!

Good Medicine for Heart and Soul
•July 21, 2011 • 1 CommentTime is accelerating so quickly….one sacred moment melts into another and oh how blessed we are to be dancing awake the dream! A few highlights for the Summer of 2011 so far!
Harmony Festival was the second weekend of June was remarkable with so much juice and good energy for the journey! The Medicine Singer alive and well, offered a multi-media presentation as earth and sky and everything in-between was invited into the celebration of who we are becoming. Seven gateways of mystery opened and the weaving of all that is awake in the world and in our inner sanctuary. Alchemical elixirs mixing water, fire, earth and air inspired those present to follow the drum beat back to a dream remembered. Re-entering the dream story that unfolded and fast forwarding to what was revealed was certainly good medicine for all who joined in “Awakening their own Medicine Singer”! Synchronicity was afoot as Michael Franti and Spearhead sang us across the threshold to “the East to the West, to the North and South, to the East to the West one love people never going to stop!” on the main stage that evening. The entire weekend was full of beauty, mystery and inspiration. The line up of speakers throughout the weekend was truly awesome. Caroline Casey that word smith and wizard of the stars, Steven Greer revealed astounding information about our star brothers and sisters, and Carl Johan Calleman clarified aspects held in the ancient Mayan Calendar, surprising us all with his research that the 2012 end date, is actually this year folks, on October 28th, 2011! Hold on to your seats! as we blast off into yet another shape-shifting reality!
The Medicine Singer was then on her way just after the Summer Solstice to Williams Oregon to a gathering of 200 beautiful heart centered sisters! What a happening and healing for heart and soul! It was the 19th annual Good Medicine Gathering, held on powerful land with a thundering river; an hour outside of Ashland. This may have been the highlight of my summer which had only just begun! Grandma Agie, an inspiration to all, is the eldest living member of her tribe based in Bend Oregon. Her stories and deep heart, humor and love was generously poured over all the parched and hungry women. Her teachings centered on healing the waters of mother earth! What a blessing in my life to have met so many loving hearts! The coming of age ceremony for two maidens who had started their moon cycle over the past year was a touching high-light to the weekend, as was the talent show that featured remarkable poets, singers, musicians and dancers. It was a great feast! I am so grateful to have been invited to share my Circle of Life teachings and the Tslogi, the Cherokee Dance of life. Thank you Windsong for holding such a healing space and vision for us all!

These words of the Great Mother, who since ancient times has been called by many names: Artemis, Astarte, Demeter, Cerridwen, Diana, Gaia…
She has also been called the Star Goddess, “the dust
of whose feet are the hosts of heaven, and
whose body encircles the universe”
Charge of the Goddess
I who am the beauty of the green earth,
and the white moon among the stars,
and the mysteries of the waters,
I call upon your soul to arise and come unto Me.
For I am the soul of nature that gives life to the universe.
From me all things proceed and unto me they must return.
Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices,
for behold! all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals.
Let there be beauty and strength,
power and compassion,
honor and humility,
mirth and reverence within you.
And you who seek to know Me,
know that your seeking and yearning will avail you not,
unless you know the Mystery.
For if that which you seek, you find not within yourself
you will never find it without.
For behold! I have been with you from the beginning,
and I am that which is attained at the end of desire.
Medicine found in Synchronistiy…
•April 27, 2011 • Leave a CommentWalked with a dear friend and her 4-legged ally recently. A sunny, crisp day with a feeling of expectancy in the air. We found our way to a body of water that was as still as a mirror reflecting the sky. A cormorant dove deep and seemed to stay under the water for longer than it seemed possible, leaving only it’s multi-ringed ripple as a sign that it had indeed been there a moment before! Crossing the path of a giant Grandmother Oak I mentioned a powerful dream re-entry process I had experienced over the weekend and gave voice to my desire to create a workshop to teach dreamers this remarkable practice! On we walked. We came to a place where only a week ago I had been walking with my daughter and almost fell. At that exact spot, I swallowed a bug! It was a strange feeling. I had hurt myself the week before, but luckily my fall had been stopped by slamming into my daughters thigh! How interesting that at the same place along the water, I would choke on a bug and come close to purging! My friend shared that she had experienced negative thoughts as we came to that place. We both felt that there needed to be a clearing of the energy. We stood at a cross-roads that held a strong feeling of balance and completeness. We sent our intention to clear what ever negative presence remained at that place on the path. There was cairn, a stone sculpture that had been
constructed at the point of the cross-roads where several pathways met. In Welsh mythology, the cross-roads is a potent place where the Goddess Cerrdiwen stands! She is a shape-shifter and transformer. She is a mother, moon and grain Goddess. Hecate is another Goddess of the cross-roads from the Greek pantheon related to the three aspects of the feminine. Mother, maiden and crone which are not only the developmental phases of a woman’s life, but also change and the three directions at the crossroads and choices. Hecate is often seen with her dog and sometimes she is with the
three headed hound cerberus.
